DESCRIPTION: Foster never checks his mail, assumes he won't get any, and is automatically unhappy to receive any on the rare occasion such a thing might actually happen. But you're welcome to leave it on his doorstep. Maybe his roommate will get it.

[ She jerks a little as she's pulled, but looks up at Psii and swallows. Okay. She needs to calm down. For him, at least.

One gulping breath in, then one out. Then another, and another -- it's harder at first but slowly easier as the breaths continue, as it's the only thing she's focusing on. Breathing, and looking at Psii, focusing on him.

Slowly, the world straightens out. ]

[No, Foster has not completely ditched them. He reappears in the doorway with a glass of water, but now he isn't entirely sure whether to give it to Psii or Chiaki.

So he sets it down on top of the steps instead, stepping back again and crouching down to study Chiaki's face from his place by the doorframe.]

[As he breathing straightens he offers her a tentative smile.]

[ She's not, completely. She still aches all over. But she can breathe, and he's there, so things are markedly better. She nods and gives him a shaky smile. ]

I-I'm okay. Thanks.

[Oooookay.

So... is this... thing over then? Should he leave?

Fuck. Fuck. He really just isn't good at this. He's still not even totally sure what brought this on. Or what 'this' is.

After a second's pause, he picks the glass back up, this time descending the steps to at least actually give it to her.]

Here. Drink it.

[Psi turns to regard Foster again as he comes closer with the water. only just then realizing that he may have been interrupting something. He steps back so Chiaki has room to actually take it if she wants to.]

Are you okay?

[He asks, suddenly looking Foster over. He doesn't know what they were talking about, but if it was that upsetting to Chiaki it might have upset Foster too.]

[ She takes the water gratefully, feeling unbearably young and sort of useless. An adult had to come over to sort everything out. She could die.

Granted, Psii's an adult she cares about. And she's glad to not be feeling like she could keel over anymore... whatever, she'll just focus on sipping the water, listening to the other two talk for now. ]

Foster stares blankly at Psi for a moment. Then he realises that the troll is ACTUALLY talking to him. Is he... is he serious? Chiaki's condition is obviously more important than sweeping some pitiful insect out of the way.

Put on the spot like that, though, his disbelief is marred by panic.]

Don't worry about something disgusting like me. You can't hurt garbage. It has no value to begin with...!

[He runs a hand back through his hair to tangle his fingers in it. This is literally the last thing he wanted. Attracting attention.]

I don't want her to die on my steps.

[Psi's brows furrow in confusion at the comment, and at first he isn't quite sure what to say.]

If you're garbage so am I.

[ She's more than a little startled herself to hear Foster refer to himself that way. Did she make him think like that? ]

No... Foster, you're not... [ She struggles upright a little more, standing on her own to feet. ] I'm okay. See? You're not... don't say that kind of thing about yourself, please...

[That's... not what he wanted, either!

He takes a step or two back, right back up the steps, and closes his hand in his hair, a tight fist. His other hand finds the doorframe and grips it just as tightly.]

That's not what I mean.

[He laughs it off--nervously, because he's extremely uncomfortable with Psiionic trying to compare himself to him, aggressively, because Chiaki is really just making this whole thing significantly worse.]

I don't have real feelings. So don't waste time on me.

[Psi looks to Foster, and then to Chiaki.]

Okay? Well, I'm sorry to hear that... But it's no waste if you need something.

[ She's a little shaken by the response, but just moves closer to Psii. She's not really sure what to say...

This whole thing has kind of sucked. She mostly just wants to go home. ]

[Well. That was... not ideal. Silence reigns for about two ticks of the second hand on the clock inside his trailer.]

Do you want another glass of water?

If not, you should probably go see Zecora.

[He is just so fucking confused right now. And now he was trying to get rid of them?]

I think she needs a second to catch her breath here. I'm sure you won't mind us standing here.

[ It's okay. Really. She's had enough. She tugs at Psii, and turns awkwardly on her big rabbit feet. ]

[Well.... yes, actually. He really would like them to leave. For multiple reasons.

He feels like he's starting to lose it. Psiionic won't stop arguing with him. They can't agree with each OTHER. He... he's just nothing, nothing at all!! Why won't they just leave!!

It seems to him that Zecora is, sincerely, the best place for Chiaki right now. He doesn't know what brought on Chiaki's... attack. Respiratory distress? Syncope? He doesn't even know. It doesn't matter. A pathetic, repulsive insect like him... could never be any help in a situation like this. He could only harm them.

But then again.... his own wants and needs are completely irrelevant. It would be hypocritical of him to wish for them to do other than exactly as they please. His comfort, his feelings exist in spite of his best efforts, so it's natural, no--necessary--for them to act in complete disregard of him. No wonder the Psiionic is so confused... he mistook their best interests for his own! Disgusting.]

I... I have no right to an opinion! Take whatever you need from me! It's what I deserve, after all--

[He smiles to show them it's fine, one hand sweeping back through his hair desperately, expression strained.

But he also knows that the longer Chiaki hangs around, the more likely it is that she'll bring up her toy again.
